Common Questions for SPB Mobile Mechanic Network customers.

Question: How much for new brakes fitted in Sheffield?

Answer:

Brake prices depend on whether you want discs and pads or just pads. They also depend on the quality of brakes that you want and specification of your car. This is the reason why we don't just give out standard prices for brake fitting.

Question: What causes excess brake dust?

Answer:

Excess brake dust could be caused by a few things, for example;

If you're using your brakes a lot, if you're brakes are binding, if the brake pad is stuck in the brake caliper carrier or if the brake slides are corroded in etc.

If you're having any of these issues, SPB Mobile Mechanics are a mobile service that can come and check your brakes for you in Sheffield.

Question: Can car brakes be fitted mobile?

Answer:

Yes, of course. As long as you have the right tools, it doesn't matter where you are. We provide this service and it is no different than when working in a garage. The quality of work is just the same. We provide a mobile brake fitting service in Sheffield. We come out for free brake checks or to fit discs and pads which can either be supplied by us or you.

Question: Are brake pads sold in a set of 4?

Answer:

Yes. Brake pads are always sold in a set of four. You need two brake pads to each brake disc. If you had front brakes and rear brakes fitted, that would be 2 sets of 4 brakes pads so that is 8 altogether.

Question: Can car services be done mobile?

Answer:

Yes. The longest part of the service is likely to be draining the oil but we drain the oil from the top now rather than from the bottom therefore there is much less mess and many times we don't need to jack the car up. This is perfectly safe and much more convenient for everyone. If you'd like to sit in the comfort of your own home rather than waiting in a garage then please do call us for a quote for Car servicing or Van servicing.

Question: Where can I get my car serviced in Sheffield?

Answer:

There are many garages that offer servicing for your car or van in Sheffield. We are the only ones that provide car servicing on a mobile basis.

Question: How much is a car service in Sheffield?

Answer:

Prices can't always be easily given. If someone offered all services for all cars at one set price, I would be very concerned. All cars are different, all parts are different and do cost very different prices sometimes. In order for us to perform a service in your car, we would need the full reg number and will always give you a price specific to your vehicle. That way, if your parts are cheaper, you get a cheaper price. We do mobile car servicing in Sheffield, Rotherham and Chesterfield.

Question: What is the difference between brake pads and discs?

Answer:

The main distinction that a customer needs to know regarding brake discs and brake pads is that you don't always need both. You'll either need just pads or discs and pads. The pads wear down quicker than the discs so you'd go through maybe 2 sets of pads as long as the discs are still okay. Don't leave your pads to wear down to the metal before changing as you'll likely need new brake discs too. We do free brakes checks in Sheffield so feel free to contacts us to check them for you.

Question: Why do I need brake discs as well as brake pads?

Answer:

You won't necessarily need discs as well as pads so make sure you aren't being mis sold. Your discs will eventually wear down and if you have had a set or two of brake pads fitted before then the chances are that you will need brake discs and brake pads this time.

If you're unsure, here at SPB Mobile Mechanics, we will come to you in Sheffield and check your brakes for you.

Question: Can you fit shoes mobile?

Answer:

Fitting shoes is quite a fiddly job. I only did it very rarely in a garage as they aren't that common. Sometimes the job can be trickier than you'd expect and sometimes we needed two people. For those reasons, I would not fit shoes mobile.

Question: Do squeaky brakes mean they need to be replaced?

Answer:

It doesn't necessarily mean you need new brakes. It could be down to a number of things including brake dust or something stuck between the brake pad and disc. It could be an indication that you're getting ready for new brakes although this isn't always the case. The brakes could just need stripping down and cleaning.

Question: Do I need my car serviced?

Answer:

Basically, yes. You should have your vehicle serviced at least once a year. In order to keep your vehicle running an optimum performance and prevent any issues, it is important to have your car/van serviced.

Question: What is the difference between a full service and a part service?

Answer:

The main difference between a full and part/interim service is the parts that are provided and changed and also the parts that are checked. A part service generally only includes an oil filter and oil change. Oil life is vital to a cars performance. A full service would include oil and oil filter, fuel filter, air filter and pollen filter. Also spark plugs if required.
